TEACHERS TAKE CENTER STAGE BEFORE OUT-OF-STATE EDUCATORS

Educators who came to Colorado from across the country to learn about Competency-Based Education and High Reliability Schools heard from WPS teachers about how the model is changing education.

During a panel discussion at the Roger J. Landgraf Center for Teaching Excellence, a group of teachers discussed their experiences with the district’s innovative approach to personalized learning. To one person, they said it was a “game changer.”

More than 50 teachers, administrators, and Board of Education members visited Westminster last month to talk with teachers and visit classrooms. WPS was one of the key stops for educators during their visit to Marzano Academies and the organization’s High Reliability Schools Summit.

A High Reliability School is built around five key areas of operation:

  • Safe, Supportive, and Collaborative Culture
  • Effective Teaching in Every Classroom
  • Guaranteed and Viable Curriculum
  • Standards-Referenced Reporting
  • Competency-Based Education

John E Flynn A Marzano Academy is the first school in the country to earn designation as a High Reliability School.
